The other cinema artefacts feature the next three Bond blockbusters – From Russia With Love, Goldfinger and Thunderball.

The collectors’ items will go under the hammer at Bonhams’ Lights, Camera, Action! sale in New York on November 30, with bids expected from around the world.

A Bonhams spokesman said: “There is always a large market for James Bond posters, particularly those featuring Sean Connery.

“More than 50 years on, he remains for many people the original and best 007.”

Ian Fleming’s Dr No was the movie that launched Edinburgh-born Connery to global stardom in 1962.

The poster features Connery alongside original Bond-girl Ursula Andress and other semi-clad actresses.

Dr No features the iconic moment when Andress, playing Honey Ryder, emerges from the water wearing a bikini.

Former milkman Connery played 007 in five Bond films, including You Only Live Twice, and returned to the role in later years to star in Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again.

In recent years, the Bond franchise has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity at the box office, with Daniel Craig in the lead role.

Connery’s version of Bond was selected as the third-greatest hero in cinema history by the American Film Institute.
